A GUIDE TO VISITING MYKONOS, GREECE

Mykonos is not only the most known island in Greece but the most glamorous of them all. The island is located in the Greek islands of the Cyclades group, situated in the middle of the Aegean Sea. I went to Mykonos as part of my post MBA graduation trip in the summer and to be honest, I couldn’t fault my time there. If you are the beach type that loves classy nights by night and want to be a beach bum by day whilst eating great food, Mykonos was made and created for you. Here is my visual diary of all what I got up to in Mykonos, where I stayed and the inbetweens.

I stayed at the Palladium hotel in Psarou in Mykonos. This 5* boutique hotel was simply amazing and I could not fault much about it (A great tip about affording this hotel was booking a triple room with my girlfriends which cut down costs dramatically whilst increasing bonding time). The hotel is also located very close Psarou beach and Nammos restaurant which is one of the most famous beach restaurants in Europe.

Pre-lobby vibes at the Palladium

We spent the first day exploring the quirky cobbled streets of Mykonos which is not heel friendly so I would suggest for all ladies to dress comfortably for long windy walks.

One of my most memorable time in Mykonos was actually when we ventured for an afternoon to JackieO’. JackieO’ is a beach club with a beach spa, a pool and jacuzzi, a restaurant and even a church just in case you decide you want to get hitched. What I loved about JackieO’ was the energy and down-to-earth vibes of many there (and of course the entertainment provided). I actually left the beach having made new friends. Did I mention I danced the daytime away? As you can tell I loved my time at JackieO’ and as such it is a MUST!

What I loved about Mykonos: JackieO’, the food, the friendliness of locals and of course the night life. Trust Mykonos to play some Nigerian Afrobeats.

What I didn’t like: That I didn’t stay a bit longer. We were only in Mykonos for three nights.

Would I go back: Yes, Yes, actually take me back right now!!

Travel tip:

  • You need to drive around Mykonos to enjoy the whole island so best to hire a car rather than pay for cabs everywhere.
  • If you are a large group, choose to book a luxurious villa rather than a hotel (Likely to be cheaper too). So impressive the kinds of accomodation you can get on this island.

.Have you been to Mykonos before? If so, what was your highlight? If you haven’t, please just go. And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask

A VISUAL GUIDE TO VISITING AWOLOWO MUSEUM AT IBEJU LEKKI

Too often many of us to do not appreciate our own history and we spend considerable time and money flying ourselves to other countries to learn about their history. When a friend of mine decided a while back that we should embark upon a trip to a beach in Ibeju Lekki, a beach with historical significance, I was sold. Ibeju Lekki is located east of Lekki. The beach of Ibeju Lekki was near the Lagos Free Trade Zone, a zone I had never been aware of. It took us approximately 2 hours from Victoria Island. 2 hours later, we stumbled upon an historical gem.

Rather than bore you with the history of the Awolowo museum at Ibeju Lekki (Chief Awolowo was one of the founding father of Nigeria btw) and the remains of the Regis Aine Factory (a slave trade company) which laid beside the beautiful beach, I’ll leave you with pictures and captions which am sure will be much easier for you to digest. Also I have a video of a Shrine we located alongside the beautiful beach. As always, I hope you enjoy and get to see a little more of my homeland and hopefully one day, make a visit.

Jordan – Culture, History, Luxury…you MUST experience

A few weeks ago, I took a plane out of London Heathrow and 5 hours later, landed in Amman (the capital of Jordan). I didn’t know what to expect and honestly didn’t do much research prior to landing and I am kind of glad I didn’t (there is something about exploring a land first-hand, not having pre-conceived ideas about it and taking it in day by day.

Jordan is an Arab kingdom in the middle east. The country is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south and east, Iraq to the north-east, Syria to the north, and Israel and Palestine to the west. It is a highly conservative country so I made sure I dressed in line (literally avoiding open shoulder outfits, short dresses etc) but I was relieved the dressing attire was more relaxed at hotels.

I spent just over a day in Amman relaxing and spending time with friends (one of which was Jordanian – nothing better that an exploring a country with a local) by the pool, experiencing city views of Amman over shisha and generally anticipating what the next few 5 days would be unearthing. We embarked on our journey of Jordan (below was our itinerary of Jordan which I employ to use when you plan your trip to jordan).

Day 1: Amman (city chill and exploring)

Day 2: Amman to Dead Sea

Day 3: Dead Sea

Day 4: Dead Sea to Petra

Day 5: Petra Visit – Wadi Rum 4×4 Tour

Day 6: Wadi Rum – Aqaba

Day 7: Aqaba – Home

Rather than bother describing every location to you (which I am sure wikipedia could possibly be useful for that), I will leave with you a gallery of what I got up to with the crew (with short descriptions) and hopefully leave you inspired to #ExploreJordan. I would add that we stayed in 5 star accommodations throughout and I am sure there are other options which would give a similar experience but for me, the quality of one’s accommodation always adds that’s extra touch to my holidays. I would say hands down, Jordan is certainly in the top 3 destinations I have explored this year.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any tips about Jordan
